St. Maarten – Volleyball club Summer Camp boosted by GEBE donation
GREAT BAY, St. Martin (July 27, 2015)—The United Volleyball Club (UVC) wrapped up its annual ‘summer’ camp last Friday, after a week of intense training in theory and practice, said coordinator Rhoda Arrindell.
This year there was a boost to the camp, with the acquisition of the Skill Attack volleyball machine, purchased with a donation from the electricity and water company GEBE NV.
“We are very grateful to GEBE for the generous donation, which allowed UVC to buy the Skill Attack volleyball machine. This investment in our youth will go a long way to improve the skills of the athletes and raise the level of volleyball overall,” said Arrindell.
“We’re also happy that UVC camper Shiovanni Levenstone received the best opposite attacker award in the just-concluded ECVA youth championships,” said Arrindell. Levenstone and fellow UVC camp participant Derrick Tidort are team members of the youth national selection.
In addition to weekly training throughout the year, the annual UVC youth camp is held on-island and abroad, said Arrindell, founder of the club’s youth program.
