About a Dozen International Aviation and Travel Writers Arriving Monday for SXM Airport Media Tour
About a dozen international aviation and travel writers will be arriving on the island Monday on a three-day media tour sponsored by the Princess Juliana International Airport, SXM.
The main purpose of the tour is to bring more international spotlight on developments at the airport, especially its increasing hub function.
The select group of journalists, drawn from the US, Canada, and the UK, include editors and contributors to major aviation journals and travel publications.
Among them are Robert Mark, a professional pilot and an award-winning aviation journalist whose articles have been published in Aviation International News, and Airport Business, among others. He is also a regular expert commentator/analyst for networks such as CNN, NBC, CBS, and FOX News.
Joining the group will be Chris Kjelgaard, editor of AirlinesAndDestinations.com, Airports Council International and a contributor to AIR International, Airliner World and other industry publications.
From the UK, Hazel King, chief editor of Passenger Terminal World, and Business Airport International will form part of the group, with Adam Twidell, contributor to Aviation Week, YouTube and PrivateFly Blog and an expert commentator for BBC. Liz Moscrop, editor of Arabian and African Airspace and co-author of 100 Greatest Women in Aviation will also participate in the media tour.
Award-winning travel journalist, Michele Peterson from Canada whose works have appeared in the Montrealer, Conde Nast, WestJet Inflight magazine and Taste and Travel will be on the tour as will Leslie Yip who has published in the Toronto Star. Ms. Yip also writes for Asian Wave and other bilingual (English/Chinese) publications.
“These are A-list journalists who are all excited to be part of this media tour,” said Suzy Kartokromo, acting manager, Marketing and Customer Service Department of SXM Airport. “They will be joined by Kristen Kellog who produces interactive video and contributes to Travel Reel, Skype Travel Chat Series, and Wanderlust to name a few. Also Miquel Ros, a contributor to CNN on aviation and travel from Barcelona, Spain will be coming.”
The tour will offer St. Maarten/St. Martin journalists the opportunity to network with their visiting counterparts.
“We appreciate the collaboration of the St. Maarten Tourist Bureau and the Tourist Office in Marigot as well as WINAIR and our hub partners in this endeavor,” said Regina LaBega, managing director of SXM Airport.
“We’re really looking forward to the buzz this will generate in the industry for SXM Airport, the island, and all our participating hub partners,” she added.
