Saint-Martin. Nouvel exemple de coopération policière bien relayé par Sint Maarten
On the night of Thursday July 17th and Friday July 18th Gendarmes and Police held a joint control at three border-crossings simultaneously, namely at Belvedere-French Quarter, Belle View – Cole Bay and Low lands Cupe-a-Coy.
The control started at 11.00 p.m. and ended at 03.00 a.m. At the Belvedere-French Quarter border 104 vehicles were checked, 11 fines given, 04 undocumented persons arrested and 02 vehicles towed. At the border in Belle View Cole bay 195 vehicles were checked, two fines were given and 01 vehicle towed, At the border in Low Lands Cupe-a-Coy 32 vehicles were checked, one fine given and 01 undocumented person arrested.
The weather was rainy that evening nevertheless that did not prevent the Honorable Minister of Justice Dennis Richardson, the Director of the Cabinet of the Justice Ministry Mr. Ronald Van de Veer and the Acting Chief of Police Denise Jacobs from visiting the control point at Bell View and Cole Bay while the controls were going on to get a personal view of how the controls were going on.
