Sint Maarten. Man arrested for fencing and fire arm possession
On Thursday August 21st between 05.00 and 06.00 p.m. the man with the initials R.R.R. (25) from Sint Maarten and for whom a warrant for his arrest had been issued, for the fencing of stolen goods and the dealing in illegal fire-arms, was arrested.
Based on an in depth investigation and information that came in to the police department that the suspect at the time was in the Dutch Quarter area Detective, the police arrest team and several patrols went into the area in search of the suspect. While in Dutch Quarter the units received information that the suspect was in a home on Gibs drive.
When the suspect noticed the police in the area he took off running in order to avoid his capture. The suspect was however was shortly after arrested at a home on the Tokyo Drive in Dutch Quarter. The suspect again tried to flee from the police but was swiftly taken into custody by the police arrest team. During a search of the suspects home on Gibs drive several handguns, and assault rifle and a large amount of ammunition were found and confiscated for further investigation.
The suspect remains in custody for further investigation.
