Sint Maarten – Armed robbery, victims tied up
On Friday November 7th at approximately 06.15 p.m. police patrols and Detectives were sent Midtown Hotel to investigate an armed robbery.
On the scene the investigating officers spoke to the three victims from Venezuela. Two of them stated that they were on the island to conduct business and while they were in their hotel room they were attacked by three unknown armed men who were dressed completely in black and had their face covered.
These men threatened the victims with their weapons and forced them to the floor. They were tied up and their hotel room searched and all their personal belongings were stolen by the robbers. After committing this act the robbers fled the scene. The third victim arrived a little later at the hotel room and met his colleagues tied up.
They were untied at which time the police were called. An undisclosed amount of cash and some electrical equipment were stolen from the room. The Forensic Department was also on the scene to collect evidence.
The Special Robbery Unit is busy conducting this investigation.
