St. Maarten – Attempted armed robbery, a security guard shot
On Sunday November 16th at approximately 12.00 p.m. several police patrols, detectives and paramedics were sent to the Atlantis Casino in the Cupe Coy area to investigate a robbery at that establishment.
On the scene the investigating officers learnt that three suspects, all dressed like females, entered the casino and threatened the cashier with a gun with the intention to rob the establishment. The security guard who was alerted of the ongoing situation confronted the suspects at which time he was shot in the legs.
The suspects were prevented from taking any cash and immediately fled the scene, possibly in a small car, after the shooting of the guard. The victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and then transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment.
Detectives were on the scene interviewing witnesses and the Forensic Department collecting evidence.
