SXM Airport to Give Presentations to MPs and Ministers
SIMPSON BAY, St. Maarten (Wednesday, February 11, 2015)—The Princess Juliana International Airport, SXM, will be making presentations to members of parliament and also to the Council of Ministers.
The meeting with the members of parliament will be held at SXM on February 19, 2015, while the date for the meeting with the Council of Ministers will depend on the schedule of the ministers.
“It will be recalled that in October last year, we hosted His Excellency, the Governor, drs. Eugene B. Holiday. We decided thereafter to invite the other branches of Government in an effort to promote transparency and keep both the legislature and the executive abreast of ongoing developments at the airport,” noted Managing Director Regina LaBega.
“The presentations will be given to update them about our operations, ongoing projects, and developments, and to answer any questions they may have as representatives of the people,” she added.
“The airport has been undergoing some significant transformations to bring it up to par as an international gateway as well as a regional hub. All of these are in line with our Capital Improvement Program, and it is just proper that we brief government periodically about the latest developments, especially seeing the recent changes in the composition of both Parliament and the Council of Ministers,” LaBega added.
Following the presentations, the members of parliament and of the Council of Ministers will be given a guided tour of the facilities.
