SXM Airport Assists Dance Theatre of Sint Maarten to Attend California Festival
SIMPSON BAY, St. Maarten (Saturday, March 28, 2015)–The Princess Juliana International Airport, SXM, has aided the Dance Theatre of Sint Maarten in the latter’s effort to raise funds for a trip to Los Angeles, California, where it is participating in an international dance festival.
“Dance is one of our foremost cultural expressions,” said SXM’s managing Director, Regina LaBega, “and we try as much as possible to assist groups that are working with dedication and love to promote the island’s culture.”
It is the second time the Dance Theatre of Sint Maarten has been invited to this festival – Dance Excellence – which brings together young dancers from all the 50 states of the US and from some 30 other countries worldwide. In 2012, the group apparently left such an impression that it was invited again this year.
“It is a great honor to have been selected to represent St. Maarten and our students will undoubtedly do our island proud again,” Mrs. Richardson-Marlin, director of the group said.
Members of the Dance Theatre of Sint Maarten are participating in a week of classes, workshops, competitions, concerts, Disneyland, a performance at Magic Kingdom, theater shows, and more. The festival runs from March 27 to April 4.
