ST. Maarten – Public notice: cycling race organized by Soualiga Riders
In connection with the upcoming cycling race which is organized by Soualiga Riders and scheduled to take place on Sunday April 12th the police department is announcing the following:
The race will start at 01 p.m. on the Welfare road in the vicinity of Willy’s Restaurant and Mini Mart and head towards the Kruythoff round about and turning right on to A.J.C. Brouwers road, round about on the top of the hill, A.J.C. Brouwers road, Church hill round about, Bush road, Zagergut road, The Cottage round about, A. Th. Illidge road, Arch road, Suckergarden road, Freedom Fighter round about, Walter Nisbet road, Saltpickers round about, Walter Nisbet road,A.Th. Illidge road and then making ten laps around the Great Salt Pond and finishing at Air Lekkerbek on the Walter Nisbet road. Approximately 50 riders will be taking place in this race.
Directly after this “senior” race a race for the “juniors” will take place. This race will be held on the Walter Nisbet road between Air Lekkerbek and Plaza China Supermarket.The entire event will end at approximately 03.00 p.m.
At the intersections along the route of the races there will a police officer or a volunteer who will be assisting in giving direction to other traffic. These volunteers will all be wearing a safety vest. All alleys and street leading to the Walter Nisbet road will be closed during these races.
The police department and race organizers are asking the general public to take note of this event and to give all cooperation necessary to make this event a safe and successful one.
