Lagoon Authority announces Closure of Simpson Bay Causeway Bridge
SIMPSON BAY, St. Maarten – Port of St. Maarten – The Simpson Bay Lagoon Authority Corporation (SLAC) announces that the Simpson Bay Causeway Bridge will be closed to marine traffic for several days on two occasions to allow for civil works to be carried out on the bridge structure.
The first closure of the Simpson Bay Causeway Bridge to marine traffic will be from Wednesday, October 2 at 7.00am to Saturday, October 5 at 12.30pm.
The second closure will be from Friday, October 11 at 7.00am to Sunday, October 13 at 7.00am.
The contractor will start aligning, pouring and curing of the joints between the steel swing bridge and the concrete decks on the East and West side of the swing bridge.
During the second phase of the bridge closure, the contractor will put asphalt on the decks.
If there is inclement weather, the aforementioned bridge closure times could change.
