Sint Maarten. Thirteen years old with gun.
On Tuesday, January 21st at approximately 6 p.m., a lady came to the Philipsburg Police Station and spoke to the Community Police Officer for the Cay Hill area and stated that she had received information that her thirteen year old son, who attends school on the French side, was in the possession of a gun.
When he came home from school she confronted him about the situation and demanded that he handed over the gun. At first he refused and after a short struggle with him, she managed to take it away from him.
She then handed over the Community Police Officer the 9 millimeter pistol, which fires blanks, and two 9 millimeter spent shells. The gun can be used to threaten and scare people off.
These items were immediately confiscated for further investigation. The Community Police Officer visited the home of the lady on several occasion in order to deal with the teenager in regard to this case, but he was not located.
